Steven B. Oppenheimer Steven B. Oppenheimer is director of the Center for Cancer and Developmental Biology, California State University, Northridge, CA 91330. He has been named Statewide Trustees Outstanding Professor of the CSU system. Author of about 50 publications in cancer biology, his work includes two texts, Cancer, A Biological and Clinical Introduction and Cancer Prevention Guidebook. Oppenheimer is project director of the National Science Foundation sponsored "Advances in Biological Science Program" that updates teachers in state-of-the-art concepts and laboratories in biological research. This article is based on material included in "Advances in Biological Science," supported by NSF grants TEI-8550011 and TEI-8650081.
